ABOUT KIMBERLY BILL, EDUCATOR

I grew up in Monticello, Illinois, a small farming community near Champaign. Following graduation, I attended Illinois State University, majoring in special education. ISU is also where I pursued my masters in special education with an emphasis on administration. I taught in the Peoria area for seventeen years before taking time off to raise four children. I returned to teaching 2 years ago and this is my second year at West. One might say I am a veteran teacher who possesses the enthusiasm of a novice educator.

My husband, Shaun, and I have four children, ranging in age from 16 to 24. Three of our children have learning disabilities and emotional and behavioral challenges. I have participated in IEPs both as a teacher and as a parent, which gives me a different and valuable perspective. In my spare time, I enjoy working on my family genealogy, fishing, traveling, and following the Chicago Cubs.

My goal is not only to teach science. More importantly, I want my students to discover a love of learning and to develop the soft skills that will help them long after they graduate from Normal West. I wish to help prepare them for a future they will write.

Parents are an integral part of the educational equation. Please do not hesitate to contact me at billk@unit5.org. I check this email frequently during the day and will get back to you as soon as possible.
